Wedding March from “The Birds” by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry (1848 - 1918)
The Birds is an ancient Greek comedy by Aristophanes, which was revived in Victorian times. The Wedding March by English composer C. H. H. Parry (composer of Jerusalem), although very grand, has an air of caricature about it – just enough to gently send up the pomposity of the play’s bridal procession.

Serenade by Derek Bourgeois (b.1941)
Derek Bourgeois wrote this Serenade for his own wedding, to be palyed by the organist as the guests left the ceremony. Not wishing to allow them the luxury of proceeding in an orderly 2/4, the composer wrote the work in 11/8, and in case anyone felt too comfortable, he changed it to 13/8 in the middle! The work has now been released in a number of different orchestaions of the original version for organ. This delightful minature ha entered the repertoire throughout the world.

Grand Choeur in D (alla Handel) by Alexandre Guilmant (1837 – 1911)
How Guilmant could have thought that this grand work was in the style of Handel, I have no idea. They must have played Handel differently in France a hundred years ago. It is a lively and stirring work.

Hornpipe (from the Water Music) by George Frideric Handel (1685 - 1757) (C)
The famous “Water Party” was held on July 17, 1717. For this Handel wrote his “Water Music”. It is said that the king adored the music so much that he ordered it performed three different times during the party (rumored to be twice before dinner and once after) though each performance was about an hour long.

Final (from the Symphony No. 1) by Louise Vierne (1870-1937)
Louis Vierne's massive organ symphony, dating from 1899, provides an exciting last movement, which makes a grand impression at weddings.
